Scars to Strength – Dr. Heena Sinha’s Journey as a Resilient Mompreneur Inspiring Hope and Empowerment

Dr. Heena Sinha’s remarkable journey stands as a testament to the profound influence critical moments can have on shaping an individual’s life. She not only acknowledged the significance of those defining moments but also embraced them as transformative catalysts for her personal growth and development.

Heena aims to embrace these transformations with the hope to inspire her two children and show them what it means to be an amazing mother and a respected and successful entrepreneur as well.

Heena, who grew up in Ahmedabad, India, belonged to a low-middle-class family. Initially, her life followed a typical trajectory for a young girl, until a heartbreaking twist altered her path. Her father became sexually abusive causing her immense suffering. 

Realizing the true horror of the situation, she found herself without any support from her family, compelling her to maintain silence. However, this silence became a breeding ground for accumulating years of trauma, intensifying her struggle with depression and leading her to contemplate self-destructive thoughts on multiple occasions.

But despite her past, when Heena turned 15, she rescued a 10-year-old girl from her own grandparents’ house. They had brought the girl in from a local village, with the promise of a good education, food, clothes, and shelter but none of these were provided to her. Not able to stand such discrimination and unfair treatment, Heena contacted the Child Helpline in India.

However, her actions did come with a personal cost, a cost where her father’s side of the family didn’t speak to her for years, Heena remained steadfast in her opinion that what had happened was wrong, and no human should be treated like that. Despite the horror she faced, Heena always found the strength within her to never give up. She exhibited a strong sense of emotional resilience when she helped that girl and her inner strength pushed her to promise herself to keep growing and never give up.

After relocating to Australia in hopes of a higher education and a brighter future, Heena discovered her true calling in using her strengths to help others. She volunteered to help spread the message of the importance of dental and oral hygiene. She also did some pro-bono work as a research intern to help improve the existing Guidelines and Economists Network International.

It wasn’t until 2019, that she decided to change the path she had walked along for so long and decided to go down the route of an entrepreneur. The decision was made due to two factors – one was where she faced unemployment from her current position, and the other was the inspiration she felt at the birth of her daughter. 

Together with her partner, Heena founded Support Coordination Australia, a platform that provided free services to the disability community. Within three months, the couple reached their maximum capacity and served 100 clients. Not wanting to stop there, and building on their success, My Second Home was launched in 2020. A heartwarming Melbourne respite that offered assisted respite facilities and long-term accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Heena has also registered a real estate company in Bali under the name of Bali Island Elegance. A passion project on her part she aims to create a presence in the luxury housing market through exceptional vacation rentals and other comprehensive services. However, this vision has been put on hold as she works on securing investments for Simple AI. This company came about after Heena and her partner sold Support Coordination Australia and co-founded Simple AI – an AI startup that focused on developing applications and tools to help improve various tasks in professional as well as personal settings.

Despite the scars of her past, Heena has come to understand that every experience, be it positive or negative, has contributed to shaping her into the person she is today. As a mother to two children, she hopes to impart her values and life lessons to them, and embrace the title of “Super Mompreneur.” Because of her resilient nature, Heena has become someone she can be proud of and hopes her kids will be proud of her as well.
