On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared that the winning team at the 2022 Twenty20 World Cup in Australia would get the US $1.6 million in prize money, the same amount as the winning team at last year’s tournament. In the same vein, the runners-up will receive $800,000, and the two third-place each finisher will receive $400,000.
The entire value of the tournament’s prizes is $5.6 million.
The 16-team event will start on October 16 with the first two rounds.
Group B has the West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, and Zimbabwe. Group A has Namibia, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. In this round, the winning team will get $40,000 altogether.
In the Super 12 phase, the top two teams from each group will move on. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are also there. Anyone who doesn’t make it past the first round will get $40,000.
If a team wins in the Super 12 round, they get $40,000. The eight eliminated teams in the Super 12 round will each get $70,000, just like in 2021.
