Adelaide Public Holidays 2022

New year day

New Year’s Day is celebrated on January 1st each year. In Adelaide, the day is a public holiday. New Year’s Day is a movable holiday, therefore if it occurs on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is the holiday.

Most stores are closed and public transit is severely curtailed throughout Australia.

Australia day

Every year on the anniversary of the first fleet from Britain arriving in Sydney Cove, Australia Day is celebrated. It is a national holiday, and the importance of the day varies depending on who you ask.

Many Australians celebrate the 26th of January with national pride, displaying the Australian flag from their businesses, houses, and automobiles. They go to festivals, fireworks shows, community and athletic activities, and family barbecues in their backyards, parks, and on the beach.

Adelaide Cup Day

Adelaide Cup Day which is also known as March Public Holiday in South Australia occurs on the second Monday of March each year.

This is when the Adelaide Cup horse race takes place, which is the primary event of the holiday.

Easter

Easter is one of Australia’s most commonly observed holiday seasons. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in all states and territories, resulting in a four-day weekend. Easter is the year’s largest and most awaited long weekend, as well as the busy season of the year on our nation’s highways.

Anzac day

Anzac Day is a somber commemoration of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps troops who have fought and died for their nation, commemorated each year on the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign in World War I.

Queen’s Birthday

The Queen’s Birthday is a public holiday observed on the second Monday in June in most states and territories, resulting in a much-anticipated June long weekend. The Queen’s Birthday holiday is also known as Volunteer’s Day in South Australia.

Labor Day

Labor Day is an annual official holiday that commemorates the establishment of the eight-hour workday in the mid-late 1800s, which was a major triumph for workers.

The requirement for each individual to have eight hours of work, eight hours of leisure, and eight hours of relaxation was the basis for the eight-hour day argument.

Christmas Day

On December 25, Australia celebrates Christmas Day, which is one of the most widely observed holidays in the nation. Christmas in Australia is a unique experience. Because the nation lies in the southern hemisphere, the 25th of December occurs in the middle of summer rather than the middle of winter as it does in Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Proclamation Day

The formal creation of South Australia as a British colony in the early 1800s is commemorated on Proclamation Day. Robert Thomas, who landed at Holdfast Bay on the ship Africaine with the first printing machine to reach South Australia, but the proclamation into print.

New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Day is the first day of the calendar year, and it is observed every year on January 1st. In Australia, the day is commemorated with a public holiday in 2022. Well, the 31st of December is not an official holiday, it is the day on which most Australians plan one of the year’s largest celebrations.
