With inflation at its peak, finding quality products at reasonable prices is extremely difficult. Kogan is an online-only retail platform that guarantees quality while providing customers with great deals and discounts. The company’s mission is to make the latest products more affordable and accessible for everyone.

This article will provide insight into the company’s history and portfolio, along with the products offered. We’ll address frequently asked questions, so ensure you read until the end.

Kogan Overview

Kogan is Australia’s largest online retail platform, selling thousands of products across several categories. Its diverse portfolio includes a number of brands, such as Kogan Cars, Kogan Energy, Dick Smith, Matt Blatt, and Mighty Ape.

The business is best known for its discounts and affordable prices. Originally starting by selling electronics, it later expanded its operations to include kids’ toys, kitchen gadgets, and other items of daily use. It was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in July 2016 and now, after 7 years, has a successful market cap of 366 million AUD.

History

Kogan’s founder, Ruslan Kogan, started the company in his parent’s garage in 2006. He initially sold LEDs, TVs, and GPS on the business’s website but later expanded to include more products. The company announced its plans to start operations in the UK, officially put into motion on November 5, making Kogan the only Australian-owned consumer brand to operate internationally. Shipping to Hong Kong began on September 4, 2011.

The business bought Dick Smith Holding for $2.6 million, which was struggling at the time of the acquisition. All physical stores were shut down to maintain the company’s online-only business policy strictly. In May 2020, it acquired Matt Blatt for 4.4 million, making it the latest addition to the company’s diverse portfolio.

Revenue

The company’s listing on the ASX proved to be a huge turning point as it caused its popularity to surge. According to 2019 statistics, Kogan’s net income rose to A$17.2 million. When COVID hit last year, and everything around the world shut down, Kogan was up and running. The company hit 1 billion dollars in sales last year. With more than 10 million products at hand and much more to offer, 2022 is proving to be another successful year for the business.

Products

Beginning as a small electronic retailer, Kogan Australia now sells millions of items in various categories, including kids’ toys, furniture, fashion accessories, clothing, kitchen gadgets, sports, and much more. In addition, it also provides internet and mobile services, insurance, travel, electricity, and car deals.
