Exchanging information is a fundamental part of modern society and is a process without which we cannot move forward. Optus is an Australia-based company dedicated to building a more connected future through telecommunication. It is the second-largest wireless carrier, serving millions around the country. With its revolutionary use of technology, it is set to become the top choice for users when it comes to internet providers and entertainment services.

This article will provide you with some valuable information about this telecommunication firm, from its services and history to its webmail and registration process. We have also addressed some FAQs, so ensure you read until the end to get the answers.

Optus – An Overview

Singtel Optus Pty Limited is a leader in integrated telecommunication across Australia. It is a subsidiary of the Singapore conglomerate Singtel. The company now mostly owns and operates its own network. In addition to providing services to customers directly, it acts as a wholesaler to several other service providers. In 2021, the firm’s operating revenue was over seven billion Australian dollars.

Services Offered

The services offered by the telecom company include broadband, wireless internet services, mobile plan, and much more. With the help of a comprehensive satellite network, it also provides its users with subscription TV, free-to-air TV, radio, voice, internet, data services, etc.

History

The company’s beginnings can be traced back to the formation of ASSAT, a company formed by the government to operate the national satellite system. It launched its first two satellites in 1985, allowing it to offer domestic services commonly used in the country. ASSAT was later acquired by this telecom giant in 1992, a move that made it Australia’s first ever privately owned communication carrier. Since then, it has launched various complex and hybrid satellites, with Optus C1 being the most complex one in the world.

Optus Webmail

OptusNet email is the company’s online webmail. Through this, users can check their emails anytime and anywhere. Having an account before accessing this service is a must. After successfully signing in to the account, users are taken straight to the ‘Email tab’ where they can send, receive and check emails. This webmail is extremely easy to use with the user guide available on their website.

Optus Login and Registration

My Account is an easy way to manage the services online. Once set up, you have access to your account 24/7 and can take advantage of its many features.

  1. To register for My Account, go to the login page.
  2. At the bottom is an option of ‘resend the email’. Click that.
  3. Enter your birth date and email address and hit ‘resend registration email’.
  4. Next, you’ll receive a welcome mail at your email address.
  5. Using the link provided in the email, verify your account and follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

After registering, you can log in to your account by entering the username and password. There is no need to create a new account for the app as both, My Account and My Optus App use the same login details.

Optus Recharge

There are numerous ways to recharge, top up and purchase extra services. Examples are as follows:

  1. My Optus App

  • Firstly, open the app and click on ‘recharge.’
  • You will be provided with multiple payment options. Pick the most suitable one.
  • To select the recharge amount, simply swipe.
  • Lastly, click on ‘Pay’ and follow the prompt.
  1. Via SMS

9999 SMS is the company’s prepaid self-service that can be used to check account numbers, recharge, buy excess data, etc. It can be accessed through any mobile phone and is available 24/7. To use this service, text ‘recharge’ to 9999, and several options will appear on your screen. Just follow the prompts afterward.

  1. Visit the Optus website.

  2. Recharge services by visiting Optus stores in your area.

Optus Sport

Australians love playing and watching sports. The sports streaming world is very interesting, with a lot of competition. But, everyone agrees that this broadcaster has dominated it with its sports streaming video on demand (SVOD) service. It is available as either standalone or an additional extra for the customers. In addition to sports, viewers can watch news, results, and coverage of selective sporting events and competitions, with the English Premier League the most renowned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s have a look at the most frequently and commonly asked questions about the organization.

1.  How to reset my Optus dongle?

If you are facing trouble connecting to your active Mobile Broadband, try resetting your dongle. In order to do this, close your Mobile Broadband Connection manager and any other application. Next, remove the dongle from the USB port, wait for 30 sec and insert it again.

2.  Is Optus down?

Even an excellent provider can sometimes face problems that can result in a server being down. Optus has made it easier for users to know about any faults through the option of ‘Check Network Status’ available on the website. Through this, the exact location of the area facing planned or unplanned outages can be found. If the service is up and running, but you are still experiencing issues with your network, you can contact the service providers directly.

3.   How do I contact Optus by phone?

Users can contact their service provider through phone calls or by logging into their business portal. Their technicians are always ready to resolve issues of any kind. The contact details and phone extensions are provided on their website.

Optus has revolutionized the telecom industry through its cutting-edge communications, advanced technology, and unique entertainment services. They aim to break the barriers of distance, time, and technology and make communication faster and more reliable for everyone.
