When Was Royal Melbourne Hospital Built in Parkville?
In early 1841, a group of community-minded folks together to provide crucial medical services.
Located in a simple cottage – to the residents of a quickly developing community.
This was long before Victoria’s majestic Parliament House.
Or world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground was conceived.
On 20 March 1846, little than a decade after Melbourne was founded.
The foundation stone for the hospital was laid with much celebration and a public parade.

The first two female patients were treated on 22 March 1848.
