Melbourne Money is a joint venture between the city of Melbourne and the state of Victoria.

It is a rebate program that offers 20% off your bill at any hospitality establishment in the city. In this post, we will discuss about what is actually Melbourne money, its benefits, Melbourne money claims, the midweek Melbourne money, and the midweek Melbourne money claims procedure.

The reimbursement will be deposited into your specified Australian bank account within five business days of your claim.

The offer will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out.

How Will The Rebate Your Discount

You may obtain your 20% discount in three simple steps:

  • Pay in full for your meal at any Melbourne cafe.
  •  Get an itemized receipt that includes the business’s name and ABN.
  • Take a photo or scan a copy of your receipt.
  • Send it to the secure Melbourne Money website and your bank information.
  • Once your claim validates.
  • Your 20% refund will be credited to your selected Australian bank account within five business days.

Benefits Of Midweek Melbourne Money

For Melbournians, eating out has suddenly become 25% cheaper for a limited time. As long as you visit a restaurant within the City of Melbourne town between Monday and Thursday. As they have done twice before, the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne have partnered.

To provide an additional incentive for people to dine out by reintroducing the Melbourne Money dining scheme.

This time around, it’s still called Midweek Melbourne Money, the first word in the title underscoring a critical guideline.

It covers meals either early or midway through the workweek. Make a breakfast, lunch, or dinner date within the first four days of the normal grind. And you may earn up to $125 in cashback throughout the course of the program’s duration.

The initiative was suspended during the summer due to the impact of the Omicron wave. It will resume on Monday, March 7.

This will apply to food and beverage purchases made at any place that sells meals. Including restaurants, cafes, and pubs, as well as bars, clubs, breweries, and distilleries.  Additionally, it will cover a quarter of your transaction amount if you spend between $40 and $500. (including GST).

The following locations are not included;

  • Mobile food trucks
  • Vans
  • Canteens
  • Trailers
  • Pop-up restaurants
  • Catering function
  • Reception centers
  • Private river cruises
  • Convenience stores
  • Milk bars
  • Supermarkets
  • Greengrocers
  • Grocery stores
  • Service stations
  • Confectionery
  • Packaged food stores

Again, the emphasis is on dining out. Takeout orders placed in person, online, or by phone on qualifying days are eligible for a refund. Satisfy the $40 least purchase, and pick it up by you from the venue.

As a result, you can’t get the 25% cashback on meals delivered by Uber Eats or Deliveries.

Thus, you must purchase food to qualify for the refund, with beverages covered only if you purchase food.

What’s New Now In Midweek Melbourne Money

This time, there are a total of $10 million available. A critical point to remember is that it is a first-come, first-served basis. So, it suggests that you go out or order takeout as soon as the scheme begins. And submit your refund claim.

Thereafter since Midweek Melbourne Money will operate until the funds deplete.

Midweek Melbourne Money Claim Procedure

You need to pay your bill in full when you place your purchase. But you’ll receive cashback afterwards. At the time of payment, you must obtain a detailed receipt, photograph it, and upload it to the Melbourne Money website.

You’ll then get your reimbursement through a bank transfer within five business days. The returning plan is one of a bunch of new initiatives introduced by the Victorian Government in February.

All of which intended at reviving the city following a difficult few months. In the case of Midweek Melbourne Money claim, increase weekday foot traffic. Additionally, regional and metropolitan travel vouchers will restore. And so will statewide dining vouchers covering areas outside the City of Melbourne.

As well as a new $30 million entertainment voucher scheme offering discounted tickets to:

  • Movies
  • Theatre performances
  • Live music gigs
  • Exhibitions
  • Conferences

Melbourne Cup Prize Money Racing Event

The Melbourne Cup is one of the world’s most renowned horse races. Currently, the total prize money exceeds $8 million. Which allocate to each horse’s ties in the following proportions:

  • 85% to the owner
  • 10% to the trainer
  • 5% to the jockey

It wasn’t always as prosperous as it is now. The initial Melbourne Cup, won by Archer in 1861, was reportedly valued at £710, which was awarded in 710 gold sovereigns.

Additionally, the winner received a gold watch.

You may believe that the Melbourne Cup’s worth has only increased over the course of its lengthy history.

But this has not always been the case.

During WWII, the award was supposedly lowered and winners got war bonds worth 200 pounds. In 1985, the event became the first in Australia to offer a total prize purse of $1 million.

By 2001, the Cup had increased prize money to a whopping $4 million. Also, the trophy upgrades from 9-carat to 18-carat gold. The total prize money awarded in 2019 approached an incredible $8 million.
